H.G. Mar Osthathios Entered Into Eternal Rest

H.G Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios entered into eternal rest at 8:10 pm, Februrary 16th, 2012, Indian time. During the last week he was admitted in Parumala Hospital because of kidney and other issues which had arisen because of old age. His Grace was 94 years old. He was the metropolitan of the Niranam diocese from 1975-2007. He was retired since then. He had served actively on the World Council of Churches.
Ordained as a Deacon on 9 August, 1947. He was then ordained as priest on 10 May 1956. Elected by the Malankara Syrian Christian Association as a Metropolitan on 2 Oct 1974.

His Grace Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios is in critical condition at Parumala Hospital. Please remember His Grace in your prayers.

MGOCSM Bible Study - Sun., February 12th @ 1pm

Marth Mariam Samajam Meeting - Sun., February 12th

Inviting all women to be part of an exciting, educational and spiritual journey.  This year will be an important year with the Diocesan Marth Mariam Samajam Conference being held at our church in October.  The theme for this year is taken from Titus 2:7, "Show yourself in all respects a model of good deeds."  Please join us after the Holy Qurbana on February 12th.

Diocese invites Applications for Mar Barnabas Educational Scholarship - Deadline Jan 15, 2012

The South-West Diocese of America is inviting applications from all 12th graders for the Mar Barnabas Educational Scholarship.  One applicant will be selected from each of the 5 regions in the Diocese Midwest, Northwest, South, Southeast an West regions, the maximum award per person is $1000. If there are 2 people selected in one region, the amount will be split.  The eligibility criterion are listed below so we encourage all senior students to apply.

1. 12th Grade students in the Diocese
2. Completed Application form

3. Supporting academic documents, GPA from school, ACT or SAT scores
4. 2 recommendation letters: Vicar, Sunday school principal or other spiritual organizations about the involvement in church activities
5. Recommendation letter: School principal or community leaders about the community/mission involvement or social awareness
6. Personal essay or "My Life after High school- personal, religious and social". Not more than 300 words.

MOTHER OF SISSY THOMAS PASSES AWAY

We are sorry to inform you that the mother of Mrs. Sissy Thomas (Cerritos) has passed away in Bhilai, India this morning. Sissy has already gone to India and Thomaskutty will be leaving tomorrow to attend the funeral services. Please pass on the information to our members in your area.
